Dal Lake on a Misty Morning, Kashmir

The beauty of the Dal reflects the mood of the sky!! On a quiet misty morning, we were floating on a Shikara to go towards the floating vegetable market. Warming up with cups of Kahwa wrapped in woolies and blankets the occasional spattering of colour from the flying birds, the floating Shikaras, the bright red flowers or the green chinars of Char Chinar brightened up the otherwise dull surrounding. Char Chinar is a small island on the Dal Lake with 4 Chinar Trees on the corners. The long living Chinar Trees are commonly found in Kashmir and is used for furniture as well as for its medicinal properties.

I would recommend 2 shikara rides on the Dal, one at sunrise and the other at sunset to experience the many moods of the Dal. The other must have on the agenda is to experience the taste of Kababs, pakoda’s or just a hot cuppa of Kahwa (Kashmiri Tea) while admiring the Dal.
